Ministry of Defence announces it's to sell the base
Today's been described as a "sad day for Lincolnshire" after the Ministry of Defence announced its going to sell RAF Scampton.
The historic base is to be sold off to help save millions of pounds.
Scampton opened in 1916 and currently employs over 6 hundred people.
The news has been greeted by a mixture of shock, anger and dismay.
Sir Edward Leigh whose constituency includes Scampton has expressed his sadness at the announcement.
Questions are now being asked about the future of those who work at Scampton and what will happen to the land.
Also the issue of where the Red Arrows will go has yet to be resolved but a number of Councillors and MPs have said it's vital they're found somewhere else in Lincolnshire.
