They would have meant the end of Newark and Sherwood District Council
It's been revealed over a hundred and twenty thousand pounds was spent on plans for a new super-council that would have covered Newark, before the idea was scrapped, last year.
Nottinghamshire County Council was behind the proposal, dissolving itself, Borough and District Councils to create the new county-wide authority.
Critics argued it would erode local decision making and would have meant the end of Newark and Sherwood District Council.
The fact so much had been spent on looking at the idea has now been branded a huge waste of money.
