MPs call for inquiry into Northern Rail after days of strikes

Unions representing Northern Rail workers are backing cross party calls for an inquiry into whether operator Arriva should be stripped of the franchise.

The RMT has just announced it's planning further strikes in a long running dispute over the role of guards on May 24th and 26th.

It'll affect services between Lincoln and Sheffield and the lines through Grimsby, Cleethorpes, Scunthorpe and Barton.

Now MPs have tabled a motion in parliament calling for an inquiry into Arriva and how its managed the franchise.
