Government will honour promises of rail improvements in Lincolnshire

Plans to improve the Lincoln to London train service will still go ahead, despite the government taking control of the franchise.

Virgin had promised a two hourly service to and from the capital by next year, while improvement work at Newark Northgate and Grantham stations was also in the pipeline.

The Department for Transport has now promised it will honour those commitments.

Lincoln MP Karen Lee is meeting officials today to hear more about the plans.
