Labour promises support to Grimsby and Immingham Docks but they won't grant freeport status

John Mcdonnell feels there are better ways of helping the Humber ports

The Shadow Chancellor says it's unlikely a Labour Government would bring in freeport status to Grimsby and Immingham docks.

John Mcdonnell has been on the campaign trail in Lincoln.

Earlier this week Business Secretary Andrea Leadsom said the Conservatives would consult on freeport status for the Humber region giving certain advantages like taxes.

However Mr Mcdonnell thinks there are better ways of backing port based companies and says a Labour Government would offer support to the renewables sector.

Meanwhile he also says Lincolnshire's right at the top of Labours list, when it comes to the rollout of full fibre broadband.
