Immingham man jailed after fight ruins footballers career

It happened during a night out in Cleethorpes

An Immingham man's been given a suspended jail term after a drunken fight in which he ruined a footballers career.

Josh Howarth, who used to live on Clyfton Crescent but has since moved to Sutton-in-Ashfield, admitted the offence, which happened on a night out in Cleethorpes in July, two years ago.

Grimsby Crown Court heard how the 26 year old stamped on the footballers foot so hard he had to undergo two operations, in which screws were inserted in to his ankle.

He's been told he won't be able to play competitive games again.

A second man from Grimsby also admitted affray for his part in the argument.
