Concern over the number of girls in NE Lincs who can't afford sanitary products

Around 10 per cent of girls and young women in the area struggle to pay for the products

Figures show 10 per cent of girls and young women in North East Lincolnshire can't afford sanitary products, that's more than 650 in the area.

There's growing concern about so called "period poverty" with some girls resorting to using unhealthy alternatives like tissues because of a lack of cash.

Tomorrow Councillors in the area will discuss doing more research into the impact, working with the Government to improve the situation and also asking schools to hand out free sanitary products to girls in real need.
