Calls for tougher sentences for those involved in 'day of violence' in Cleethorpes

There are calls for tougher sentences for the football fans convicted - following clashes between Grimsby Town and Sheffield United supporters.

Football fans were sentenced last week, after police were forced to deal with a day of violent clashes across Cleethorpes - both before and after a match.

Grimsby MP Melanie Onn has spoken out in Parliament saying their community-based sentences were too lenient.

She is asking for a formal review of the case involving 26 hooligans who were convicted after violence in the resort in 2016.
