ABC - Viva Love
ABC began in 1980 and although there were five members, lead vocalist Martin Fry later became the only regular member of the band. They were formed in Sheffield with ‘Tears Are Not Enough’ becoming their first top 20 in 1981. It was followed by 3 top 10 singles in 1982 including ‘The Look Of Love’, ‘Poison Arrow’ and ‘All Of My Heart’, all part of their Number 1 debut album ‘The Lexicon Of Love’. Although ABC have released 9 albums they never managed to score another Top 5. 24 years later Martin Fry has returned with ‘The Lexicon Of Love 2’ which features conductor, composer and arranger Anne Dudley just like the first album. ‘Viva Love’ is a re-working of a track that originally appeared as a bonus song on their 1991 album ‘Abracadabra’. ABC are set to appear at the Newark Festival on 18th June.
