Multiple dates from Friday, January 24th to Saturday, February 8th
WAINFLEET THEATRE CLUB
THE TANGLED TALE OF RAPUNZEL
Wainfleet Theatre Club will be presenting a brand new pantomime “The Tangled Tale of Rapunzel” at the Coronation Hall in Wainfleet on Friday 24th January at 7.45pm, on Saturday 25th January at 7.30pm, on Saturday 1st February at 2.30pm and 7.30pm and finally on Saturday 8th February at 2.30pm
For many people, Wainfleet’s long standing traditional family pantomimes have become a permanent fixture on the list of “must-do things in the New Year” and this year’s production promises to be even more spectacular than ever before.
Although it’s brand new, all the usual ingredients of a traditional pantomime are still very prevalent, but, with the added delight of a story line tinged with much topical influence, and, we don’t mean Brexit. Oh no, Wainfleet and the surrounding area has recently had much bigger issues to deal with than Brexit, things such as badgers in the riverbanks, sandbags, the Environment Agency and Peter Levy.
Especially written for Wainfleet Theatre Club by Kirsty Garrill the script tells the tale of the dastardly Gothel keeping Princess Rapunzel locked away in a secret tower so she can use the magic powers of Rapunzel’s hair to retain her own youth and beauty. However, when Rapunzels real father, The King, offers a reward for the safe return of his daughter, a bevy of colourful characters set out to save Rapunzel and claim that reward for themselves. Leading the charge is the boisterous Dame Lou Roll hotly pursued by the rest including the heroic Robin Swine, dippy Prince Norman, Handy Annie and … er… a pair of adventure seeking maths teachers. Along the way, they encounter some very unusual “people” and events.
If it all sounds a bit far-fetched, well it is. But the only way to see how things unfold will be to come along and find out for yourself. You won’t be disappointed. The costumes, scenery, and pyrotechnics together with new sound and lighting systems all add to the pantomime magic on offer by Wainfleet Theatre Club this year.
Seats for all performances cost only £8 each with concessions for OAP’s, children under 16 and group bookings.
