Heckington Players ADS Presents: The Flint Street Nativity by Tim Firth
Where the adults play the children!
The Flint Street Nativity was originally a TV comedy produced for Yorkshire Television and aired during Christmas 1999. Tim Firth rewrote the play and added music for the stage production at the Liverpool Playhouse in 2006.
The play focuses on the seven- and eight-year-old pupils in that evening's sole performance of the school nativity play, from the pre-performance classroom preparations to the final stage performance, which culminates in calamity.
Mizzis Horrocks' class is about to perform their nativity play at Flint Street Junior School for the proud mums and dads – and the occasional social worker. Squabbles arise when Gabriel wants to play Mary, the Star grumbles he's not a proper star like they have at NASA, Herod won't stop waving to his mum and dad and the subversive Innkeeper is determined to liven up the traditional script. And then the stick insect escapes…
This play will have you laughing and crying at every point as the cast take you on a journey of fun and discovery through the eyes of children.
