There is nothing better than homemade Beef Burgers for a
barbeque, these are simple to make and very tasty.
1 onion finely chopped
Oil for frying
750g/1 ½ lbs Lean minced British Beef
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp Dijon
mustard
2 tsp horseradish sauce
Salt and pepper
Method:
- Heat the oil in a frying
pan and gently fry the onions until soft, add the garlic and cook for a
further minute. Cool.
- Place the beef in a
mixing bowl and break it up. Add the cooled onion and garlic and mix in.
- Add the mustard and
horseradish with salt and pepper. Mix really well.
- Shape the mixture into
burger shapes, depending on the size you like you should be able to make
about 8-10 burgers. Place the burgers on a plate and chill until needed.
- When ready to cook place
the burgers on the barbeque. Cook on each side, but make sure that
the burger has sealed before turning to cook on the other side. If
you don't do this they may fall apart. Cook to the desired length of
time. Like all beef allow to rest before serving.
- These can be frozen,
when raw and cooked when needed. Try placing a slice of Stilton cheese on
the top when cooking the second side – delicious.
