23rd January

Its a local derby for Scunthorpe United, who welcome Doncaster Rovers to Glanford Park.

The Iron will look to make amends after a 3 - 1 loss against Gillingham over the weekend.

20th January

Scunthorpe United lost 3-1 to Gillingham at Glanford Park.

Josh Morris netting the only goal for the Iron.

13th January

It was a share of the points in Scunthorpe’s long trip to Portsmouth.

Kevin Van Veen got the equaliser for the Iron in the second half.

11th January

Scunthorpe United have signed striker Ivan Toney from Newcastle United.

Toney had initially been on loan to the Iron last year when he scored seven times for the side.

He'll stay for this second spell till the end of the season. 

The Iron have also just signed midfielder Ryan Yates from Nottingham Forest, who's just back from loan at League Two side Notts county. 

4th January

Scunthorpe United have made their first signing of the January transfer window.

Midfielder Cameron McGheehan joins on loan from championship side Barnsley.

He'll be a Glanford Park until the end of the season.

Meanwhile Neil McDonald is joining Scunthorpe United as assistant manager, after a stint in charge of League of Ireland side Limerick

The 52 year old enjoyed a 15 year playing career, with spells at Newcastle United and Everton.

 2nd January

Scunthorpe United won 1 nil against the team managed by their former assistant boss. 

They were hosting Bury. Chris Lucketti left the Iron for the position in November.

It was also boss Graham Alexander's 100th game in charge. 

1st January

Graham Alexander is preparing for his 100th game in charge of Scunthorpe United as they take on Bury at Glanford Park.

Neal Bishop comes back into the squad as his suspension is up.

30th December

It’s honours even at the top end of League One, with Scunthorpe’s game at Blackburn ending 2-all.

Twice Blackburn went in front, with Danny Graham getting both goals. Scunthorpe pulled it level again, first thanks to Kevin Van Veen and later from Connor Townsend.  The Iron stay 4th, with Rovers 3rd.

26th December

Scunthorpe United got their first away win at Blackpool since 2000.

The Iron finished 3-2.

23rd December:

Scunthorpe United are 4th in league one after a 3-1 win at home to Southend.  

Kevin Van Veen and Conor Townsend got two of the goals with an own goal responsible for the 3rd.

Manager Graham Alexander says they now have to keep up that standard.

16th December

MK Dons came from behind to get a 2-2 draw against Scunthorpe United.

Goals from Hakeeb Adelakun and Kevin Van Veen put the Iron infront but midfielder Neal Bishop got shown a red card in first half stoppage time. The Dons equalised in the 66th.

14th December:

Cricket legend Sir Ian Botham has been appointed President of Scunthorpe United.

He made 11 first team league appearances as a footballer for the Iron between 1980 and 1985. 

He represented England in 102 Test matches and 116 Limited Overs Internationals, before becoming a commentator.

25th November:

Scunthorpe United chalked up their 6th league victory in a row seeing off Charlton 2 nil at Glanford Park.

Josh Morris got both goals.

Manager Graham Alexander says it was a great all round team performance.

The Iron are 3rd in league one now just two points behind Shrewsbury in 2nd. 

23rd November:

Scunthorpe United's assistant manager Chris Lucketti has been appointed the new manager of League One side Bury.

He's departing The Iron to take up the top job with The Shakers, who he spent six seasons with as a player during the 1990s.

Bury currently sit bottom of the table, with just 16 points from 19 games.

22nd November:

Scunthorpe United have made it 5 league wins in a row, with a 2 - 1 victory over Bradford City.

The Iron are up to 3rd in the table, thanks to goals from Duane Holmes and Hakeeb Adelekun.

Lee Novak had to come off during the first half with a twisted ankle - it puts him in doubt for Saturday's game against Charlton.

21st November:

Scunthorpe United head to Bradford City. 

Josh Morris and Simon Church could be back in contention as they recover from hamstring injuries, but will be assessed ahead of the match. 

19th November:

Scunthorpe United climb to 4th in League One, with a 3-nil win at Northampton yesterday.

Duane Holmes scored twice, after Cameron Burgess had put the Iron in front just after the break…with HIS first goal for the club.

15th November:

Scunthorpe United are through to the second round of the FA Cup after securing a one nil home win over Northampton.  

Hakeeb Adelakun's first half strike was enough to win the tie for the Iron.

That sets up a local derby at Doncaster Rovers in the next round.  

14th November:

Scunthorpe United could seal a place in the next round of the FA Cup in their replay against Northampton Town this evening.

The Iron also face them at the weekend in League One.

The winner of tonight's match will play Doncaster Rovers in Round Two of the competition.

11th November:

In League One an injury time goal gave Scunthorpe the points, beating Bristol Rovers 1-nil at Glanford Park.

Neal Bishop was the scorer, just seconds before the final whistle.

4th November:

Scunthorpe United will need to win a replay if they're to progress to the second round of the FA cup.

The Iron drew nil nil at Northampton.

The draw for the second round takes place on Monday evening. 

1st November:

Scunthorpe United are through to the next round of the Checkatrade Trophy - even though they lost to Doncaster Rovers last night.

The game ended in a 1-1 draw so it went to penalties. There the Iron lost 3-2.

Thanks to goal difference Scunthorpe finished top of the group though.

31st October:

Scunthorpe United have a local derby at Doncaster Rovers in the Checkatrade trophy.

29th October:

Scunthorpe United are riding high after their win over Oldham Athletic.

The final result was 3-2 to the Iron.

22nd October:

Scunthorpe from came from behind to beat Peterborough.

The Posh went in front through Gwion Edwards, but Lee Novak headed home an equaliser for the Iron -

Josh Morris's late penalty gave The Iron the 2 - 1  win.

It puts Scunthorpe back up to 8th in League One.

21st October:

Scunthorpe United will welcome Peterborough to Glanford Park later, hoping to avoid splitting the points once again.

Boss Graham Alexander will be still be missing Sam Mantom due to a groin problem.

Levi Sutton is also out injured.

18th October:

It was a share of the points for Scunthorpe United.

They drew 1-all at home to Fleetwood after they pushed to a last minute goal to equalize.

It had looked like the Iron would get the advantage after Lee Novak scored in the first half.

They'll next host Peterborough United at the weekend.

15th October:

Scunthorpe United have dropped a couple more places in League One, after a 2-0 defeat at Rotherham.

14th October:

Scunthorpe United's Manager says new signing Clayton Lewis still needs time before he'll be selected for competitive games.

The Iron go to Rotherham later.

Charlie Goode and Conor Townsend have both been out injured...but Graham Alexander says they're working on their fitness so they'll be ready for selection.

7th October:

The Iron are down to 8th in League One, after losing 2-1 to ten man Wigan yesterday at Glanford Park.

Dan Burn and Nick Powell put the visitors in front, the Iron pulled one back through Funso Ojo, getting his first ever goal in the football league.

6th October

Scunthorpe United are readying themselves for a home match against Wigan Athletic.

It proved to be a tough game for the Iron last weekend as they lost to Shrewsbury Town.

Connor Townsend, Jack Dyche and Charlie Goode are all close to making a return.

4th October

Scunthorpe United came out on top against Grimsby Town in the Checkatrade Trophy last night - winning 2 - 1.

They've sealed their place in the next round thanks to a Tom Hopper double - The Iron will next face Doncaster Rovers.

26th September

Scunthorpe United will be looking to get another clean sheet when they play Gillingham away later.

The Iron haven't let any goals in this month - while their opposition are struggling, they even sacked their manager yesterday.

24th September

Scunthorpe United claimed a 2 - nil win against Portsmouth.

Both goals came in the first half, with Duane Holmes and Lee Novak scoring for The Iron.

Its their 5th clean sheet in 6 league matches.

23rd September

Scunthorpe United are hoping they can keep up their confidence when they play Portsmouth at home.

The Iron beat local rivals Doncaster last weekend.

17th September

Scunthorpe United are making the short trip to Doncaster for their derby game.

The Iron will be looking to move on from their first home loss this season.

15th September:

Scunthorpe United have a big derby match this weekend - they're playing Doncaster Rovers away.

The Iron suffered their defeat of the season during the week.

They're playing on Sunday.

9th September:

Scunthorpe United are still unbeaten in League One this season but couldn't quite find the winner at Glanford Park against Blackpool - it finished nil nil.

3rd September

It was a good win for Scunthorpe yesterday.

The Iron climb to 4th in league one, after a late Josh Morris goal gave them a 1-nil win at Bury.

2nd September

Scunthorpe United have no new injury concerns ahead of their game against Bury.

Manager Graham Alexander says Gigg Lane is tough place to go.

They made another signing last night - midfielder Andrew Crofts has joined the Iron.

26th August

The Iron beat Plymouth 4-0, Paddy Madden got two, with Tom Hopper and Josh Morris also scoring. Plymouth played the second half with just 10 men, after Antoni Sarcevic was sent off, after a clash just before the break.

22nd August:

 Scunthorpe United have been knocked out of the League cup at the hands of Championship opposition.

The Iron suffered a 3 nil defeat at Middlesborough.

22nd August: 

Scunthorpe United will be paying tribute to their former manager Bill Green in tonight's game.

He was in charge of the Iron during the early nineties - he's died aged 66.

The team will be wearing black arm bands when they face Middlesbrough away in the League Cup.

Meanwhile Grimsby Town are playing Derby at Blundell Park in that competition.

12th August:

Scunthorpe United are making the trip to Rochdale for this afternoon's game.

They're looking for their first league win.

Some players have got a few knocks after the Iron's mid week League Cup game.

8th August:

Scunthorpe United host Notts County in the League Cup

Manager Graham Alexander has said there could be a few more new faces playing, and confirmed that Neal Bishop won't be on the pitch because of injury.

6th August:

It's a share of the points up in League One, for Scunthorpe United. They were held to a 1-1 draw by Wimbledon.

Scunthorpe United start their new League One campaign this afternoon.

They're hosting Wimbledon at Glanford Park.

Manager Graham Alexander says they're looking to building on last year's promising season.

1st August:

Scunthorpe United have announced Rory Mcardle will be the captain this season.

The thirty year old has joined from Bradford and has plenty of experience in League One.

Manager Graham Alexander announced the news earlier.
