Lincoln win, Grimsby draws but there's a heavy defeat for Scunthorpe

Scunthorpe United are licking their wounds after a disappointing 4 nil home defeat to Preston in League one.

The Iron were hoping to follow up their League cup victory over Championship side Blackburn with their first points of the season.

Instead they were soundly beaten.

Manager Russ Wilcox says there were too many defensive errors.

In the Conference Lincoln City secured three points with a 2-1 win at Barnet.

The Imps scored through Jordan Burrows and Hamza Bencherif.

That leaves them with 2 wins and a draw in the first 3 league games which sees them 6th in the conference.

Manager Gary Simpson says they deserved the win.

Grimsby Town are still searching for their first league win of the season after a third draw in the row.

The Mariners took the lead against Dover Athletic through Patrick Mclaughlin but the visitors equalised.

It could have been worse though, Town conceded a penalty which was saved by keeper James Mckeown.

Manager Paul Hurst says they need to do better

In the conference North Boston United were 3-2 winners at home at Colwyn Bay whilst Gainsborough Trinity drew 2-2 at home to Brackley.

In the Northern Premier Grantham Town went down 2-1 at Blyth Spartans, Stamford won 2-1 at home to Workington.

Lincoln United went down 3-1 at home to host Tividale in the Northern Premier League Division One South and Brigg Town also suffered a hom defeat to Loughborough Dynamo by the same score.
