Tata Fined for Gas Explosion

Tata Steel in Scunthorpe has been fined, after a gas leak set alight leaving a man with burns to his face.

Flames up to 3 metres tall shot from a leaking gas pipe in February 2009.

Scunthorpe Magistrates heard workers were lucky not to have been engulfed in the blaze.

Tata was ordered to pay just over £30,000 in costs and fines.
