Judge cleared for his comments during Lincolnshire slavery trial

It was while he was sentencing the Rooney family for modern slavery crimes.

A judge's been cleared of making inappropriate comments about the travelling community as he sentenced a family who'd been keeping men as slaves in Lincolnshire.

During the Rooney family trial they claimed what they were doing on Drinsey Nook happened in traveller camps around the country.

Timothy Spencer QC commented: "I fear that you may be correct..But that does not make any of it right."

The National Alliance of Gypsy Traveller and Roma Women say his remarks will damage relations and they're disappointed with the ruling.
