Far right group plan protest in Skegness

Saturday, September 15th 2012 09:52

An increased police presence is expected in Skegness, as members of a far right political group plan what they say will be a peaceful protest.

The National Front are demonstrating against plans for a slaughterhouse in Skegness to use the Halal method of killing animals.

The Muslim practice of slaughter doesn't allow animals to be stunned before they are killed, which some people feel is cruel.

A petition has been launched in the town against the slaughterhouse, on animal rights grounds, but organisers of the petition say they want to distance themselves from the National Front protest.

Lincs FM has been unable to contact the owner of the slaughterhouse for comment.
