Staff at Lincolnshire's only DVLA office have been told it will close by next October.
The decision to shut the centre in Lincoln was taken by the Department of Transport last month, despite a campaign to keep it open.
The PCS Unionm which represents staff, says they still hope the government will do a U-turn if there is enough pressure from members of the public.
