A local teaching union representative's slammed the government's drive to boost the number of free schools opening...

Free schools have been deemed a failure by a former headteacher and union representative from Newark.

55 will open their doors for the first time across the country this week.

Michael Wilson is the Treasurer of the Newark and Sherwood NASUWT and a former head-teacher of Newark's Grove School.

He's not happy with how local authorities are handing over governance to groups of parents, teachers and charities.
