North East Lincolnshire Council fail to reach agreement on budget proposals

The Labour leader of North East Lincolnshire Council has accused the Conservative opposition of being 'reckless'.

Its  after they failed to pass this year's budget.

At a meeting last night a near 5% rise in council tax was voted down - The Conservatives say cuts to services mean it isn't fair to ask people to pay more.

But Councillor Ray Oxby insisted they are sensible proposals.

Proposals for weekly recycling bin collections were also blocked as a result - the council also want to introduce bigger bins as they now only pick up every other week.

The council faces a crunch meeting next week - they legally have to agree a budget by early March.
