A Louth mother whose daughter died in a freak accident has been honoured at the Pride of Britain Awards.

Amelia Wood was just 11-years-old when she was struck by a wheel which had come loose from a passing car on her way to school.

Mum, Hayley Hodson was nominated for her fundraising following Amelia's death.

She attended the award ceremony which was on TV last night and says her daughter would have been proud.

The ceremony also saw Britain's last surviving dambuster George "Johnny" Johnson given an accolade.

He picked up the special recognition award.
