9 week waiting list to see psychiatrist in Lincolnshire

A shortage of senior psychiatrists in Lincolnshire has led to some people having to leave the county for mental health care.

For every 100 thousand people in Lincolnshire, there's only approximately 5 and a half NHS consultants who can provide specialist mental health care .

On average people have to wait just over 9 weeks to see a specialist.

That waiting list is getting longer too - according to the Royal College of Psychiatrists, there were 12% more referrals to mental health providers in the first three months of 2017 compared to last year.
