3 tonnes of contaminated soil removed from Woodhall Spa woods

Specialist MoD teams have been working to clean up the site for the past week.

Around 3 tonnes of soil has been removed from woodland near Woodhall Spa believed to be contaminated by mustard gas.

Over the past week Ministry of Defence teams have been working to make Roughton Woods safe, after canisters of the World War 2 weapon were dug up in the area.

No extra chemical weapons were found during the search.

The soil has been taken to the military science base to be destroyed.
