Birdy - Wings

19 year-old Jasmine Van Den Bogaerde is from Lymington in Hampshire and is known as Birdy. At just 15 she had her debut Top 10 song in 2011 with ‘Skinny Love’ a cover of a song by American indie band Bon Iver. It reached Number 1 in a handful of countries and was certified 6 times platinum in Australia. Birdy's Mum is a concert pianist and taught her to play piano at the age of 5. She entered the UK Idol 2008 competition, an event which attracted over 10,000 hopefuls. Birdy was crowned the winner of the under 18s group. ‘Wings’ was originally the 1st track from her second album ‘Fire Within’ and is co-written by Ryan Tedder from One Republic. Although ‘Wings’ was released in 2013 it has found new life after featuring in a band TV commercial. Jasmine’s great uncle was film actor Dirk Bogarde who won Best Actor at the BAFTA awards in 1963 and 1965.
