Nicki Minaj - Starships29 year-old Onika Maraj was born in Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean. When she was 5 her parents moved to the Queens area of New York. In 2008 she won Female Artist of the Year at the Underground Music Awards and signed a record deal a year later and around the time she appeared in one of Mariah Carey’s videos. Her debut album ‘Pink Friday’ was released in 2010. Her big break came when she appeared on Will I Am’s single ‘Check It Out’, reaching Number 11 in the UK. Since then she went top 10 with ‘Super Bass’ and ‘2012’ with Jay Sean and has recently collaborated with Rihanna on the Top 20 hit ‘Fly’. ‘Starships’ is taken from her 2nd album ‘Pink Friday, Roman Reloaded’ and sang a track from the album at the recent 54th Grammy Awards. Nicki also joined Madonna on stage for her Superbowl performance.
