Gainsborough Choral Society Concert

Saturday, March 24th

Event Summary

The Spring concert by Gainsborough Choral Society with the Lincoln Pro Musica orchestra falls at the start of Holy Week and the programme has been devised with this in mind. The main work for the evening is Stainer's Crucifixion for which a small chamber orchestra will be employed, using a rarely played orchestration by Barry Rose. Soloists are Tom Morss (tenor) and Terence Ayebare (Bass). Other works in the concert are The Lark Ascending by Vaughan Williams, Psalm 23 by Rob Kempner and the G major settings of the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis by Stanford. The latter two works, by Kempner and Stanford, will be first performances of orchestral arrangements by GCS member Nicholas Haines.

Price: £12.50 adults, £10 concessions and £2 for children
